How to Remove Upper GSXR Fairings

There comes a time in every rider’s life where the upper K7/K8 GSXR 1000 fairing needs to be removed, whether they need a replacement or just want to inspect the upper fairing. As you may know, the upkeep of every component of your K7 or K8 GSXR is necessary, just like with a car. Although removing the upper 2007/2008 GSXR 1000 fairing is not as simple as removing a side fairing, it can still be done in a considerable short amount of time.

What you’ll need is a flashlight or device that emits light, a screwdriver, and of course, two hands. On the upper GSXR fairing, there’s a bolt-like screw on the left side of the ledge of the fairing., followed by another at the left side of the nose. The other one requires you to look underneath the upper fairing and prop open an interior flap with that screwdriver. You’ll be needing that light as well.

Some things to keep in mind:

— Be careful and go easy on your ride as you operate on it. Being too rough can result in the fairing cracking or scratched.
— When the upper fairing is ready to be removed, slowly wiggle it out. Keep in mind that there are three (3) slots that components of the upper fairing have to attach to one another or detach.
